Washing and conditioning naturally curly hair isn’t always as simple as using whatever you’ve got lurking in the corner of your bathroom (if only). Finding the right combination of products for your hair can be a time-consuming process, one that becomes even more challenging if you’re looking to reduce the amount of single-use plastic in your curl-care routine.
I have naturally curly hair, so finding great plastic-free curly-hair products worth switching to was my top priority when I set up Sage Folk.
Included below are the best conditioner bars and plastic-free conditioners for curly hair that I’ve discovered so far. Plus, I delve into why I think they’re great products.
- Lavender and Tea Tree Conditioner Bar – Friendly Soap
- Lime & Bergamot Conditioner Bar – Bean & Bee
- Extra Care Conditioner Bar for Curly & Frizzy Hair – KinKind
- Conditioner Creme – UpCircle

Lavender and Tea Tree Conditioner Bar – Friendly Soap
In stock
This is one of the best-selling conditioner bars I stock — for good reason.
I like to try and test products before I decide to stock them. This is one of the easiest to use out of all the conditioner bars I’ve tried. It’s rich and nourishing due to its cocoa butter and castor oil blend, and I find this warms up nicely and distributes well through my hair.
Also available in peppermint & eucalyptus.
Sometimes, solid conditioner can be a little too solid. You need it to warm between your hands and melt enough to actually apply the product to your hair. Thankfully, this is another conditioner bar that does exactly that.
Its rich blend of fair trade cocoa butter and natural olive waxes nourishes hair. Hydrolysed plant protein helps protect and restore hair strands. I love the delicate lime and bergamot scent, too.
Extra Care Conditioner Bar for Curly & Frizzy Hair – KinKind
Only 1 left in stock
This small but mighty conditioner bar from KinKind is designed especially for curly, frizzy and damaged hair. It’s enriched with cocoa seed butter, coconut oil and concentrated conditioning ingredients. Another great one to use that provides your curls with the TLC they need.

I’m so pleased that UpCirlce have released a conditoner creme to go with their amazing shampoo creme. The creme has a whipped texture and is highly concentrated, so you don’t need to use nearly as much as a regular conditioner. The formula feels really nourishing without being heavy and weighing my hair down (which happened easily with my curly type). It also provides plenty of slip for detangling too.
